As the chair of the joint societies, IE13/PE31/IA34/RL07, I am pleased to invite our members to be my guest for a casual lunch in order  to hear your suggestions in regard to our Cleveland Chapter activities of the past and future. So far this year, we have had the following three events and I would like to hear your feedback about these events. This would be followed by suggestions and leads for future events from the participants.

Date: 19 Mar 2019- Electric Vehicles and Supporting Infrastructure Status & Forecast to 2040: an overview of the status of electric vehicles now and in future. By Mike Betts, CEO Evelocity Ltd.

Date: 12 Jun 2019- Autonomous Power System Control for Spacecraft: an overview of the power system control designs to overcome challenges with specific applications to the Gateway, a lunar-base, and future space vehicles that will take humans beyond Low Earth Orbit. By Marc A. Carbone, Controls Engineer at the NASA Glenn Research Center in the power management and distribution branch.

Date: 17 Sep 2019- Factory Tour- Motor/Generator Test, Repair and Inspection with Latest Insulation System – IPS, Cleveland: a factory tour to cover motor/generator receipt, inspection, and repair processes. The attendees would go through the plant observing different repair and rewinding activities followed by a lecture on the latest insulation system. By David Hinchliffe, PE,  the Senior Electrical Engineer for IPS Cleveland since 2014.  David oversees electrical failure investigations, repair and testing.  He is also the Electrical Insulation Engineer for the development and maintenance of the IPS proprietary insulation systems.
