Gary Casterline is a recognized expert in plastics engineering. Gary's expertise includes choosing the best material for applications, part design for function and cost reduction, process and design changes through failure mode analysis to eliminate quality and functional defects and training of personnel on plastics part design and design of experiments. Internally referred to as the "global plastics expert" within Delphi Corporation's Warren, OH, facility, Gary was responsible for plastic materials selection for 500 new designs per year and authored more than 20 global plastics and testing specifications per year. Gary was a member of the Delphi Nanomaterials Development Team and a past member and Chairman of both the Delphi and General Motors Plastics Committees.

Mr Casterline will be giving us a brief overview of how to begin the process of selecting a plastic material for an injection molded part. Plastic material selection based on mechanical properties, thermal properties, chemical resistance, and material cost will be discussed. Feel free to bring sample designs for discussion.
