The Materials for Opto/Electronics Research and Education (MORE) Center provides industrial and academic users with direct and service based access to specialized equipment that enables the fabrication and characterization of cutting edge materials and devices related to solar energy and emerging electronic and optoelectronic technologies. In addition to the assistance of
expert faculty and staff, the MORE Center houses state-of-the-art facilities, including cleanroom and glovebox facilities to allow for research in clean and inert environments; an array of thin film characterization tools to probe thin film morphology and optical properties; and a wide range of deposition tools that can perform sensitive and challenging material application operations. The MORE Center is a collaborative environment where students, faculty, and industry leaders can develop the kind of innovative technology that will shape the future.
 
Bonus Tour: SCSAM
The Swagelok Center for Surface Analysis of Materials is one of Case Western Reserve University’s largest core facilities, providing a variety of instrumentation for the microstructural and compositional characterization of materials as well as surface and near-surface chemical analysis. 
 
Speaker
 Dr. Ina Martin is the director of operations of the Materials for Opto/electronics Research and Education (MORE)
Center at Case Western Reserve University. The MORE Center advances science and innovation with facilities enabling the fabrication and characterization of materials and devices for solar energy and emerging electronic and optoelectronic technologies. Dr. Martin received her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry in 2005, from Colorado State University, researching low temperature plasmas. Her expertise in plasma deposition and a keen interest in renewable energy led to postdoctoral work in applied physics. She researched thin film photovoltaic devices, first at the Eindhoven University of Technology, in the Plasma Materials and Processing Group, and then at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, in the Silicon Materials and Devices group. In 2010, she came to CWRU, where her multidisciplinary background and strong mentoring and leadership skills enable the MORE Center’s mission of interdisciplinary research, education and public outreach. She has been an adjunct assistant professor in Materials Science and Engineering since 2013. In addition to operating the facility, training students, and teaching short courses, her materials research continues with investigations of thermal management materials for concentrated PV, and transparent conductive oxide engineering for thin film PV applications. Her passion for education and outreach focuses on scientific literacy, including work with local schools and the Cleveland Public Library.
