The IEEE Cleveland Section and IEEE Erie Section invite you to attend an RSVP ONLY family event at the Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC) on Saturday, October 17, 2015. The RSVP deadline for catering is October 12.
This event will feature a lecture on the history of NASA presented by Ms. Therese Griebel, the Director of Aeronautics at NASA GRC. This event will also feature Rick Smith, Jr, a World Record Holding magician/illusionist who will perform during and after the catered lunch.
Before the lecture and after lunch, you are free to enjoy the exhibits at the Great Lakes Science Center, which include the NASA Visitors Center, 2 The Xtreme Math and Science Exhibit, Cleveland Creates Zone, Science Phenomena Exhibit, Alternative Energy Exhibit, BioMedTech Exhibit, and the Polymer Funhouse that is geared toward the youngest kids.
This event would normally be priced at over $90/person. The IEEE is proud to present this event at a very reasonable cost for IEEE members, their families, and guests.

Ms. Therese Griebel
Director of Aeronautics at NASA GRC
As a prominent part of Northeast Ohio, the NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) at Lewis Field and Plumbrook Station has been and still is instrumental in the development of state-of-the-art technologies for the benefit of all. Ms. Therese Griebel, the Director of Aeronautics at NASA GRC, will highlight some of the historic accomplishments that the NASA facilities are responsible for, which will also portray the facilities capabilities.
Mr. Rick Smith Jr.
Magician, Illusionist & World Record Holder
Rick Smith, Jr. is a magician, known for his feats involving illusion, mentalism, and the throwing of playing cards (scaling). Smith broke the Guinness World Record for the highest throw of a playing card during his show at the GLSC in March. Smith has appeared on television shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, America’s Got Talent, and Shark Tank.
