    The IEEE Cleveland Section will be meeting at Mavis Winkles in Independence on February 15 at 6:30PM to discuss the upcoming EnergyTech 2012 conference and other upcoming events. All are welcome to attend and help plan these events.

    Established in 1953, the Northeastern Ohio Science and Engineering Fair (NEOSEF) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, whose goal is to get young adults interested in science and engineering by participating in a science and engineering competition. The Fair has been held every year since 1954 and is affiliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

    The IEEE Cleveland Section has given given out six Special Awards to NEOSEF participants on an annual bases. This year the upper grade level Special Award winners will also receive an invitation to attend IEEE EnergyTech 2012.

    This year's conference theme is Connecting Today’s Growth to our Region’s Future . The program will include four tracks with breakout sessions on the following topics: Investing in Infrastructure, Adding Value with Technology, Funding Growth and BIM/IPD. Special features include a panel discussion on Oil & Natural Gas Development in Ohio, our annual Excellence in Design and Hall of Fame Awards, and an industry trade show.

    EnergyTech 2012 follows the successful launch of EnergyTech 2011, surveying promising technologies in power and energy to address the growing demand for sustainable energy. This new conference will bring together experts in diverse areas to review and explore technologies that promise significant contributions towards addressing this global challenge.

    Topics will include: smart grid, energy storage, wind power, plug-in electric vehicles, co-generation, distributed generation, efficiency and conservation, power electronics, photovoltaics, solar-thermal energy, and other alternative and renewable means of power generation. Submitted papers will be peer reviewed and the conference proceedings will be published on IEEE Xplore. Both research and application papers are invited, with an emphasis on how the technology described can help address the global concern.
